From Hillbrow to a technology company.

Hanley Technologies was born from a human journey of resilience, purpose, and a passion to help people through technology.

Hanley Nyathi grew up in Gauteng and was later sent to live with his grandparents in Limpopo. As a child, he ran away to Johannesburg, got lost, and eventually found himself in Hillbrow. In that difficult season, a man named Dumisane became his lifeline. By helping him push a trolley, collect scraps, and earn enough for a meal and a safe place to sleep, Dumisane gave Hanley more than survival — he gave him hope.

Back home, Hanley's mother never stopped searching for her son. After two long years, she found him and brought him home. Returning was not easy. Though he had become street-smart, school was a struggle, especially because he could not speak English well. But Hanley refused to let his circumstances define him. Step by step, he persevered, completed N1, N2, and N3, and later enrolled for a degree in Computer Engineering.

His passion for technology first came alive through gaming. Hanley loved Mario Bros, practised relentlessly, and reached levels others could not. One day, when a friend wrote “Hanley” on the TV game as the winner, something powerful clicked inside him. In that moment, he decided that one day his name would be “on TV” — not for fame, but for impact.

That dream became Hanley Technologies.
